Plasma Rich Facials

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) rejuvenation – PRP has been used in wound healing in many specialities of medicine. Plasma extracted from your blood contains cells called platelets that produce growth factors which help wound healing. When PRP is injected into the skin, it stimulates new collagen production and enhances your cells to regenerate making it an anti-ageing treatment. It can be used in combination with a Derma roller™ or mixed with Dermal fillers, vitamins and antioxidants for a more superior result. It can be used everywhere on the body- hair loss, face, neck, décolletage, knees, elbows, stretch marks, wounds and scars.

The procedure – A small amount of blood is drawn from the arm and placed in a centrifuge. The spinning of this blood separates the cells from the plasma which is rich in platelets. This plasma is then injected back into the desired area. As this uses patients own blood product and is performed under sterile conditions there is only very minimal risk of allergic reactions or complications, short term or long term.

The results – There could be mild swelling initially. The smoothness of the skin and change in pigmentation are noticeable within a month. Over the next few months the platelets release the growth factors stimulating collagen growth which can take up to 3 months. Response varies between individuals but most conditions will need up to three sessions at least 4-6 weeks apart. However, there is no limit to the number of sessions you can have. Regular top ups can maintain the results for longer.

Are The Treatments Painful?

A gentle application of anaesthesia is applied to the treatment area which will take away any pain you may experience.

Are There Any Side Effects?

As the patient’s own blood is the only resource being used, there is no risk of allergic reaction and no known side effects.

When Will You See Results?

You can expect maximum results at approximately 6 weeks after treatment when the new collagen production is complete. For the best outcome it is recommended that you have a dermal roller treatment in conjunction to gain the best possible results, however PRP can be used on its own.

How Long Will The Results Last?

The results of the treatment last for up to 2 years, with a top-up treatment recommended after 6 months for optimum longevity
